American Wolf by Nate Blakeslee

Writing nonfiction is not an easy task. Not only does it need to be carefully and painstakingly fact-checked, but it also needs to be written in a way that is appealing and doesn't bore readers to tears. Fortunately, Blakeslee hit the mark wonderfully.

American Wolf is a fascinating glimpse into the lives of wolves and the world in which wolves are treated and viewed. As someone who has always supported wolves and wolf conservation, it was interesting to read about the reasons why people do not want them around. Similarly, I enjoyed reading about the various figures who were involved in tracking and writing about the wolves.

My favorite part, of course, was reading about the wolves themselves. The pack life dynamics are fascinating, especially when reading about how the males take on their father-figure roles, and how the mothers go to such lengths to care for their pups. This was a great book that I wholeheartedly recommend! This is also a great example and well-written nonfiction.!
